GRAVEL is an exploration of the world of rallying in the early 2000’s I was fascinated with while growing up. I’m using colours and visual cues of the team I used to root for, Subaru. My aim for this project is to convey the drama, speed and madness of rallying through experimentations with typography, colour, sound and physical objects and create a visual love letter to the sport.
So far, I’ve been exploring ways of conveying movement through typography. I’ve also been looking into how shapes of terrain and rally stages themselves can be used as a starting point for creating a typeface, which was mainly inspired by graphics from rally racing video games I used to play as a kid.
