Farm Panic was an improvisational rock band formed in 1989. Members Dave (guitar, xylophone, vocals) and Cheryl (vocals, drums, bassoon) were married until the band split in 1998, ending both their relationship and musical collaboration. Cheryl reportedly cheated on Dave with his best friend, who was also the best man at their wedding.

As Farm Panic’s “ex-band manager”, I put together a retrospective of the band last year called Farm Panic: The Rise and Fall (image 6) and decided to make this breakup interview to further explain their split.

In my research (image 5) I have been looking at a TMZ style of reporting celebrity scandals in an exaggerated way. For mockumentary interviews, I have referenced ‘This Is Spinal Tap’, ‘Zoolander’, and ‘I, Tonya’ to see how I could recreate an interview whilst switching back to showing the narrative with a continued voice over. I have also watched interviews with bands that were popular at the same time that Farm Panic was supposed to exist to try to replicate their style and attitude.
